About the Event

About the workshop

Get the skills and knowledge you need to grow dahlias and other cut flowers in your garden. In this colorful workshop, we'll explore the basics of dahlia culture, types, habit, and flower anatomy. Understand where to source tubers, as well as information on tuber storage, digging and dividing, planting, and overall care. Together, we'll grab shovels and start planting out our new U-pick dahlia patch. Go home with the confidence that you can succeed in growing these garden showstoppers and bring more color into your garden!

About the instructor

Jim Haack, together with his wife Katie, own and operate Wild Canary Farm, a diversified family farm located just south of Duvall, WA in the Snoqualmie River Valley. At Wild Canary they focus on a regenerative approach to food and community. They grow cut flowers commercially on 2 acres, including over 100 varieties of dahlia in every type, shape and color, from 1" pompoms to 10" dinnerplate monster dahlias. Their dahlias sell direct to consumers, through markets, farm stands and retailers and now through the Seattle Wholesale Growers Market, a cooperative of NW producers.
