About the Event

About the workshop

Jump into the fascinating world of mushrooms! This workshop focuses on how to harvest, grow, and prepare wild and cultivated edible mushrooms. Explore the basics of wild mushroom identification, terminology, characteristics, and habitat. Understand the tools and techniques for harvesting and preparing mushrooms including King Stropharia (Wine Cap), Oysters, Morels, Spring Porcini, and Prince Agaricus. Learn methods for how to grow your own mushrooms by creating a King Stropharia mushroom bed on-site, and watching a demonstration on how to innoculate logs for Oyster and Shitake mushroom cultivation. Our goal is to demystify the mushroom, give you confidence to harvest and/or grow mushrooms, and empower you with the necessary tools, skills, and resources in order to be in a good relationship with this fascinating living organism.
